The forthcoming Crystal Bridal Fair spearheaded by wedding designer Zandra Lim this coming September 15-16 is not an ordinary event. Brides-to-be and other interested parties will actually be making a difference because the proceeds will help fund the treatment of patients at the Cancer Institute of St. Luke’s Medical Center in Quezon City.
Proceeds from the sales of tickets to the gala fashion show on September 15 at the Discovery Primea Hotel and the silent auction of fashion show pieces will go to charity. Even the bridal fair suppliers will donate part of their sales to charity.
“My initial plan was just a fashion show during which we will also accept bookings for future orders and hold an auction of the fashion show pieces. However, the event just became bigger as many people from the wedding industry joined forces to help with the charity event, thus the addition of the bridal fair,” Lim narrated.
Lim and her husband, oncologist Dr. Mars Imasa, have always espoused charity work without fanfare. She revealed that her spouse “has always been confronted with delays and even premature termination of chemotherapy of cancer patients due to financial constraints, most specifically those who are marginalized.”
“As such, the 15 th anniversary of my presence in the wedding industry is a good opportunity to push a cause bigger than what we have been doing,” Lim added.
Lim is a BS Pharmacy graduate from the University of Santo Tomas and while she loved being a pharmacist, her love for fashion and design could not be denied. Her atelier Zandra Lim Designs was established in 2003 and since then, Lim has been considered one of the country’s top designers for bridal gowns.
Lim studied at the Istituto di Moda Burgo in Milan, Italy, where she took Istilista di Abiti di Sposa (Fashion Design, specializing in Wedding Dress) and also took a course in Textile Effects at the University of the Arts, London-Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design.
Beyond these credentials, Lim has extensive experience on working with brides and listening to what they want to wear and how they want their weddings to be.
“Every bride wants to wear something special on her wedding day, be it simple, grand, or in between. That is where I come in, to create that special dress and make it a beautiful masterpiece,” said Lim.
Elegance is a trademark of any gown that comes from Zandra Lim designs, whether they are haute couture or from the Ready to Wed line. For haute couture, the design of each gown is unique to the bride, her personality and what she wants. Whether the bride wants beading all over her gown or just embroidery, she will get what she wants. The bride will walk down the aisle in a gown that she has envisioned and wished for.
Lim’s use of luxurious fabrics is perfect for her unapologetically feminine aesthetic. Intricate detailing and sparkling embellishment make each gown a frame for the wearer’s beauty and elegance.
Admission to Crystal Bridal Fair is free. Doors open 6PM on September 15th and 10am on the 16th.
Crystal Bridal Fair is being staged in partnership with Niceprint, Amantefleurs, Rhed Sarmiento Events, and Discovery Primea and is sponsored by Metrotech Projectors, LST Lights & Sounds, and Pikulyar Photo.
