Sumilon is a private island owned by the Bluewater resorts group off Oslob in Cebu. After a surreal whale shark watching experience in the waters of Oslob town proper, most people put a visit to Sumilon on the itinerary, as it is just 20 to 25 minutes away by boat.
I must say don’t skip going to Sumilon if you’re already in Oslob because the sandbar, with its perfect white sand beach, is just so beautiful…
Travelers on a budget often just bring food and eat on the boat, before doing some swimming on the beach or just plain sailing. Boat tour operators charge an additional P500 for them to bring you to Sumilon after seeing the whale sharks….
Those looking for more value will just be happy to book Sumilon Island resort’s day trip which cost only P1,500. This is already inclusive of a buffet lunch, using the resort facilities and engaging in activities to explore the island further.
The buffet lunch offered the complete courses – from salad to soup to desserts. But the best part was enjoying it by the beach.Nothing beats dining by the sea and enjoying the fresh breeze!
The resort’s infinity pool was picturesque as well and looked so inviting…
Bluewater Sumilon has 24 spacious rooms, two honeymoon villas (109 sq.m. each) and a family villa (185 sq.m.). It also has these glamping tents for those seeking the outdoor experience. Ventilation is provided by an electric fan.
Inside the tent. Rate during this peak season is approximately P10,000 a night.
There are a number of activities one can do in the island such as kayaking, swimming, snorkelling and trekking. The island has a lighthouse.
But since I was tired from swimming with the whale sharks earlier in the day, I just opted to enjoy the view. There was so much natural beauty to absorb.
