City of Dreams Manila : a first look!

A lot of my friends and relatives always ask me what’s new in Manila. Am proud that my city is such a bustling, happening place these days, fueled by a very young population and a strong middle class. Anyway, here’s the grandest, newest place in town….City of Dreams Manila!!!

The fambam drove over to the complex yesterday to have a look. It’s only on a dry run and only a few stores/restos are open, but the casino is already operating. What can I say, it’s impressive.

From outside, here’s a view of the Crown Towers, a six-star property of 260 rooms which will open soon, along with the boutique Nobu Hotel where Robert de Niro is one of the owners.

The best thing about City of Dreams MNL now is the free parking, but surely this won’t be the case for long. Gold as a color predominates the structures in the integrated resort, and this is carried over even in the pillars of the driveway.

At the entrance, I told the page boys “you resemble each other,” and it turns out they were twins, haha. Meet Elijah Moses and Jeremiah Moses.

Tall, gorgeous looking ladies are a fixture at the entrance of the new gaming establishments, even in Solaire and Resorts World. But they’re so tall they must be wearing 6-inch heels or something 🙂

There are only two levels open to the public now who visit COD (the common acronym for City of Dreams MNL). The ground floor has a gaming area and Noodl8, a noodle bar. The second level has the boutiques and restos. Am definitely excited about the opening of DreamPlay by DreamWorks in the first quarter of 2015 where the kids can interact with Shrek and other characters!

Prego, an Italian restaurant. Except for Red Ginger, the restos looked lonely for the most part.

Still to open: Pangaea, which gained renown as the nightclub of the ultra-rich in Singapore. I wonder if they’ll be able to duplicate their success with Manila’s party crowd

Can’t wait: Godiva Chocolate Cafe. I loved it in Shanghai.

City of Dreams Manila is worth a look if you have the time to swing by right now, but as I said it’s on dry run and most of the stores/restos are not open. I would come back here again to check in at the Hyatt Hotel and eat at Red Ginger, otherwise, we can just wait for the full opening 😉
