Private individuals and corporate members of Boracay Foundation Inc (BFI), Hotel Sales & Marketing Association Intl (HSMA), Philippine Tourism & Hospitality Officers & Marketers Association (PHILTHOMA), Tourism Congress of the Philippines (TCP), and Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) have collaborated to show their support to save Boracay. Their mission is to show solidarity with the government and all the communities and stakeholders that will be affected by the temporary closure of the island.
A clean up drive and job fair has been scheduled for the whole day of April 16. ten days before the government deadline for the temporary closure of Boracay to tourists to pave the way for its rehabilitation.
“Organizing the clean up and job fair is our way of showing our love for Boracay and for the thousands of workers that will be displaced due to the closure ,” Christine Ibarreta, president of HSMA remarked.
“We know that this small gesture will not even make a dent, but we are willing to help and this is just one of the activities we are planning to pursue to help our countrymen,” she added.
