I went on a personal matter to my hometown over the weekend and despite being such a pain in the butt - literally, because of the long land travel from the airport - I was still glad to discover new places, plus a few more to tick off my bucket list! Eastern Visayas is such a gem to explore in the Philippines, and we're not just talking about its heavenly beaches. First, my cousins brought me to Pagatpat, an eatery with a view which they often frequent. The billboard says it's a "century old seafoods restaurant" and it's located in Matalom, Leyte. The resto ... Continue Reading...
Stonehouse Gardens Resort in Naga City
Th girls and I went to the Bicol region over the Labor Day weekend. We didn't really know anybody there but I wanted to go there again for the food and some places to be discovered. It was Legaspi City in 2012 and now the pitstop was Naga. Our five year old Lucia managed to endure the nine-hour overnight trip, thanks to the comfy Lazyboy chairs of the Penafrancia bus company. Fare was P1,100 one way. Once in Naga City, we were really excited about going to the Stonehouse Gardens Resort and true enough, the view was so refreshing with all the greenery. Exact ... Hotel sáv opens in Hong Kong
Have you ever been to Hung Hom in Hong Kong? Most of us haven't, LOL. Located on the southeastern part of Kowloon, this area was quite a revelation since what can be seen here are mostly traditional shophouses that's unlike the modern part of HK. But it's very refreshing still that a sleek new modern hotel has opened in this part of town. The name: Hotel sáv. sáv is part of Chuang's Group which also owns hotels/resorts in Taipei, Xiamen and Cebu City. Its CEO & founder Edwin Chuang is only 30 and graduated with a degree in architecture, interior & urban planning ... Continue Reading...
Our Easter stay at Privato Hotel & a review
We normally don't go out of town during the Holy Week/Easter break. It is because I dread the diaspora of people in airports, bus terminals and highways. The strategy is to stay in a part of Manila that we have yet to discover...this is after all a big city! And so, this is how we found ourselves in Privato Hotel Mandaluyong during the last holiday. The hotel rate was quite reasonable for only P1,800 net per night on Deal Grocer. For this, we got their Deluxe Double room which was reasonably spacious at 28 sq.m. and had two queen-sized beds. Checking in was a ... Continue Reading...
Hot spring resorts in Pansol, Laguna : Splash Mountain
It's been ages since I went to Pansol, Laguna! This place is famous for being the Hot Spring Resort Capital of the Philippines and its advantage is that it's very near Manila. One Sunday, I finally summoned the mood to drive down there since the kids always like playing in the water.Without traffic, one can reach Pansol in less than two hours. You know you've arrived when you see all these floaters and other water fun gear on the road. We didn't have any reservations. Gladly, one can take a pick from the assortment of resorts lining the highway. Our first stop ... Continue Reading...
