As a traveller, I rely on hotel review sites, blogs and even Facebook to check out places whenever I go to a new destination. But nothing beats word-of-mouth or the feedback I hear from friends. If their recommendation is positive and it's within my budget, then I go for it! My curiosity certainly got piqued when a friend - whose family owns a popular restaurant chain in Manila - was gushing about the hotel rooms in Solaire Resort & Casino. She told me how the rooms are materiales fuertes (of top quality) and how they've always liked staying there. Since my ... Continue Reading...
Earth Kitchen at BHS Central, BGC
I've always wanted to check out Earth Kitchen in Katipunan but being from the South, the location was far from me. I was thrilled to learn that they've opened in bustling Bonifacio Global City, and got an invite to try their specialties no less. As a purveyor of farm-to-table cuisine, dining at Earth Kitchen is always for a good cause since they support the Got Heart Farms in Tarlac. There are other communities from Luzon to Mindanao where they source the ingredients. The emphasis is on healthy, organic produce that's free from GMOs, pesticides and other harmful ... 12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub is hot for live bands!
12 Monkeys Music Hall & Pub, on the 5th Level of the Century City Mall in Makati City, is now one of the hottest places in town where Manila's beautiful people, party goers and music lovers converge. Its greatest attraction is its lineup of DJs and live bands. Among those who have played in recent weeks were Up Dharma Down, Wolfgang, Rico Blanco & Kamikazee. I was at 12 Monkeys for the first time with some friends & acquaintances during the South Border gig last August 20 and thoroughly enjoyed it. South Border did some nice covers of present hits (like John ... Continue Reading...
At Cable Car The Fort Strip, last Saturday
So Cable Car is still ALIVE.. and expanding! Me and the kids were in Bonifacio Global City last Saturday and noticed that the resto-bar has replaced the Kasbah in the Fort Strip. Curiosity (and nostalgia) got the better me so we checked the new place out. Ooops, we actually opened it for the night. The bar hoppers and partygoers arrive around 9:30 so minors (nay, toddlers) are allowed for the meantime :) I can't tell you enough how much Cable Car reminds me of the time when my friends and I were still footloose and fancy-free. It would be our last stop ... Continue Reading...
Genting Star Tourism Academy
The Genting Star Tourism Academy is the hospitality training school of Travellers International which operates Resorts World in the Philippines. Late last year, we had the chance to visit their facilities in Newport City in Pasay. Ms. Dyan Fernandez, senior manager for business development, led our media group through a tour of the institution which is located on the second floor of the Star Cruises Center. I was thinking it's a good study option for those who are not keen on taking up traditional college or university courses. Genting Star Tourism Academy ... Continue Reading...
