Thanks to Anton for mentioning this humble site as one of his favorite blogs on the Philippines. Anton's Awesome Planet is the one to go to if you want a fresh take on unique places in Manila and fascinating hideaways in this country of 7,107 islands , complete with beautiful photos at that. My only regret is that I haven't been gallivanting like this fellow blogger does, this being a year of "downsizing" my personal affairs (read: "due to a running mortgage and mounting bills, I have become poorer, hehe). As a result, I had to shy away from joining Pinoy Travel ... Continue Reading...
An encounter with The Shoe Legend
Imelda Sorry, I simply had to post this since it's not everyday that I get to be in the same room with Imelda Marcos, the great poker legend Jack Binion (third from right) Golden Nugget Hotel & Casino president Tim Poster (second from left) plus some other Las Vegas moguls I can't identify for now. Looks like am in another country)" is a common reaction of Manila's pollution-induced visitors upon seeing this giant ship which looks every inch like a majestic temple at night with its resplendent display of bright neon lights. Reportedly costing $600 million, this one is not your run-of-the-mill Superferry dear; this one was ... Continue Reading...
My Partial, Not-So-Yearend Foodie List
everydaycafe My favorite coffee in Manila is not Starbucks or Seattle's but this small & obscure fastfood stall at the basement of Juan Luna Shopping Mall in Binondo called Everyday Cafe. The resident barista Tony expertly brews his coffee from a Japan-made siphon machine which is similar to the one found in Ongpin's Panciteria Lido (understandably so, the owners used to be business partners). The fastfood center is also popular among shoppers and Fil-Chinese denizens for its $1 heaping plates of pancit and equally-cheap chicken cordon bleu rolls. Sharing ... Continue Reading...
