I have been eating in a number of restaurants in our beloved city of Paranaque. I know that this district is far for some people, but for residents like me, it feels nice to be in the center of a culinary wonderland (albeit "underrated" and "undiscovered.") I love the fact that most of the restos have a homey ambiance and offer home cooking. I really prefer to be dining here now than in hip places of Makati or the Fort. We're blessed to be near Daniele's Casa Mia Italian restaurant which is owned by the son of the owner of the famous Bellini's of Cubao. Like his ... Continue Reading...
Vikings, Mall of Asia: best buffet in Manila?
I am sick of it. Everyone's trying to diet. If women, especially, don't have an appetite for anything, I wonder how their life in the bedroom is. LOL. Probably Boring with a capital B! Dieting galpals exasperate me because I can't seem to do it myself. The most success I've had with dieting is eating in moderation, and I know that's not enough. So yes, here's some bad news: another buffet place in town. The Vikings buffet at the bay in Mall of Asia looks like it can give expensive hotel buffets a run for their money. Its edge: spacious, well-designed interiors ... Continue Reading...
General’s lechon: Manila’s best lechon?
Lechon is my favorite indulgence. I don't eat it weekly (for health reasons) but if today was Armageddon, I'd ask for a roasted pork's crackling skin and its flavorful meat mixed with belly fat as my last meal on earth! The hubby isn't as crazy about lechon but I convinced him to order one for our daughter's christening reception at the Manila Yacht Club last year. We chose General's Lechon as the centerpiece of our little christening party. What could be more perfect than Manila's famous sunset viewed from the verandah of the yacht club and delectable lechon ... Continue Reading...
Yummy Eats at the Fort: all the good things!
I was excited to attend the YUMMY Eats food fair at The Fort over the weekend, mostly because I knew the vendors would be among the best this city has to offer. Glad to say I wasn't disappointed. Thumbs up to the zoning of the event venue, the NBC Tent, on the big day because it wasn't crowded and stifling. The Yummy Magazine team carefully picked the 31 food retailers who would sell their products that day, with a little bit of everything to sample from each category - from drinks to cakes to the ultimate tummy fillers like lechon. I ended up buying the ... Continue Reading...
Sebastian’s champorado & tibok tibok ice cream: Must. Eat. NAO!
Whenever I want to indulge in ice cream, I go local. Am through with my Ben & Jerry's phase, right now it's Sebastian's. I visit their Cold Comfort outlet at the Mall of Asia once every four months (maybe) but always there are exciting new flavors to discover. Like Fro-Ya (or Frozen Yakult), Frozen Taho, Butter Pecan, Chocoholics Anonymous and so on. Last week I went crazy over their blue cheese ice cream (P125 for a scoop) drizzled with Palawan honey. One good thing with Sebastian's ice cream, when they say blue cheese, it's really blue cheese. I nibbled on the ... Continue Reading...
