We've been eating out a lot lately. Blame it on the fact that I have a long list of restaurants I'd like to try out before 2011 closes. I know I am already writing a lot about food as it is, but the Manila resto landscape seems to changing and ever-expanding that it's hard to keep tabs on the developments. Anyway, the past week saw me and hubby scouting for furniture and knick-knacks in Bangkal, Makati City.If you don't know Bangkal, this area is best known as a haven for second-hand car parts, thrift shops and flea market finds. We had a great time touring the ... Continue Reading...
Must-taste of the week: Ferrero chocolate gelato @ Sol Gelato in Venice Piazza
In the cosmopolitan food hub that is Manila, colorfully-designed frozen yogurt cafes go head to head with ice cream parlors and gelaterias for supremacy in the field of chilly treats. I believe that froyo has had its heyday, it's time to say a big HELLO to good ol' ice cream (think Sebastian's) or sharpen up your tongue for a divine taste of Italy - gelato oh gelato! My must-try of the week are the frozen desserts at Sol Gelato. We went to this quaint spot at the Venice Piazza in McKinley Hill after gorging on dishes from the Food Adventure tour. Being a ... Breakfast at Paris Delice
I can't explain why at the height of tropical storm Falcon last week, I was dreaming of my own little Paris in Makati, a quaint patisserie called Paris Delice .... Paris, of course, is one place I have to go which probably explains my fascination for this small place in Juno St. near Jupiter. I've been harboring a vain battle to eat light like a French woman. Paris Delice hits the spot with its offerings of soups, salads and sandwiches. None of the greasy fried rice and other stuff that we, Pinoys, are accustomed to eat with our main meals. The only thing ... Continue Reading...
Johnny Rockets and the dancing servers
The family was billeted at an Ortigas hotel over the weekend. It was nice since we literally just crossed over to go to the mall. Then, we found ourselves at the newly-opened restaurant wing of Robinsons Galleria called the Veranda and debating whether we'll go to Hyphy's or Johnny Rockets. The latter won mainly because of the burger-eating man of the house (and he was paying) :D I haven't been to Johnny Rockets in California or anywhere so it was all quite new to me. This Americana-themed resto prides itself of its dancing servers. Either you love them or hate ... Continue Reading...
