When you chance upon any Bizu Patisserie & Bistro branch in Metro Manila, try any of their bestsellers: Macarons de Paris, the artful and decadent chocolate Samba, the delightful dark chocolate with pistachio cream Nirvana and the superb 10-Hour Roast Beef. Samsung Galaxy Tab 10. 1 review & first impressions
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 is my newest toy. Actually I wanted the smartphone Galaxy S II but this tablet fell on my lap instead :D ( I won't bore you with details). What do you know... am presently loving every moment with this tablet. In fact, am much more inclined to use it than I did with my 64gb iPad (sorry hubs!) This tablet obviously has a larger screen than the old 7-inch Galaxy Tab. But what really appeals to me - aside from the super bright display - is the weight of this gadget. At only 565 grams, it is the ultimate in portability. Samsung did well ... Continue Reading...
A YUMMY cooking demo + some recipes
I've been attending a lot of cooking demos lately. It's nice to learn all these previously unheard of tips from the top chefs and it strengthens my assumption that not every detail and technique are written in cookbooks. You gotta find your own style in cooking and hear it from the masters themselves. You can only do this by seeing them up close. YUMMY Magazine was kind enough to sponsor a cooking demo by Tristan Encarnacion, the young resident chef of the early morning show Unang Hirit. One part of Robinsons Supermarket was crowded that day with an audience who were ... Continue Reading...
Kenji Tei Ramen House: the best ramen in our book!

This is after tasting the ramen joints along Pasay Road, including the much-ballyhooed Ukkokei Ramen Ron. Kenji Tei still tops it for us. We've eaten in the place a dozen times now and the consistency remains the same. Sigh. Their bowl of ramen prices have even gone up, from just P180 in 2009 to P240 at present. But the fact that Kenji Tei is opening in Greenbelt 5 soon means that they must be doing something good. A few things that we look for in a good bowl ... Continue Reading...
Dining in the south: Mama Lou’s Italian Kitchen in Las Piñas City
Lori over at Dessert Comes First asked her readers about the best place in town that serves fries. On ordinary days, I'd say McDonald's but somehow,I can't forget the french fries served at Mama Lou's Italian kitchen that combines three of my favorite things: gravy, cheese and bacon! This bacon poutine is certainly my favorite:) Is it good? Say that again! I believe that in the French region of Canada, poutine is a diner staple and is usually served with fresh cheese curds and brown gravy. I normally get my poutine fixation at Mama Lou's since places serving ... Continue Reading...
