This huge cheery blossom tree made of glass will always be an iconic symbol of Yurakuen at Diamond Hotel Philippines, definitely one of the best Japanese dining spots in Manila. What better way to enjoy an exquisite cuisine than being served by kimono-clad waitresses amid the classy marble tables and stoneware while relishing the view of Manila Bay in this resto's floor-to-ceiling glass windows? I've eaten in Yurakuen several times before but it was only recently that I discovered the Teppanyaki Table. We sat in a curved counter long enough for eight people and the ... Continue Reading...
It’s 25 days till Christmas …. time for Purefoods Fiesta Ham!
You know it's the Christmas season when ham and queso de bola are on full display in the grocery aisles. In this case, only 25 days to go till the country's biggest holiday arrives and families gather on the dining table for their merry feasts. As a mom, I get excited in not only buying presents for the kids but also planning the menu for our little get-together on Christmas Eve. Ever since I was small, Purefoods Fiesta Ham has been a staple in our noche buena table. And when I grew up, it's either others gave them as a gift to me or I bought them myself. ... Soderno @ Molito & my food project Chicken Delish
Straight from the organizers of Mercato Centrale, Soderno @ Molito - the newest weekend market in the South of Manila - made its successful maiden run last November 18-20. The official address is the Molito Lifestyle Center at the corner of Madrigal & Commerce Avenues, in front of Alabang Town Center and Ayala Alabang Village. I was supposed to be at Soderno last Sunday for my food project Chicken Delish but 'chickened out' at the last minute :) Excited isn't really the word. Frantic is more like it as I prepared for this project without taking a leave from my ... Continue Reading...
Mama’s Bar & Restaurant Boracay: the largest servings this side of Phili …
And by Phili I meant Philippines. The mouthwatering Philly cheesesteaks at The Cheese Steak Shop in Manila is another thing :). Anyway, when in Boracay, I recommend you try Mama's Bar, Restaurant & Chillout Lounge. Located in the area called Yapak, it's a little out of the way from the mainstream restos of White Beach but worth the penny if you're hankering for good sausages and great German food. This little dive is currently listed as the No. 1 restaurant in Boracay in Trip Advisor, the top travel review website by independent travellers (where am a senior ... Continue Reading...
Hanaichi Japanese restaurant @ Fort Bonifacio
Unlike other districts in Manila like Makati or Malate, there aren't too many Japanese restaurants yet in the Bonifacio Global City. That's why we happily tried Hanaichi at this condotel called The Luxe Residences on 28th street corner 4th Avenue. I felt something familiar about the place the first time I stepped there. And then I remembered that this was where the short-lived Spasso Italian Wine & Tapas Bar used to be. The sight of young Japanese women dining on the night of our visit warmed me up to the place. It establishes trust when I know, for ... Continue Reading...
