First of all, I was curious to know what Magnum was. The last time we heard, a gun and (ehrmmm...) large-sized condoms were also called Magnum. I didn't know how hugely popular Magnum ice cream was in other countries. Hubby said he ate it in Iraq, and so did Doc Gelo in Malaysia and Raquel in Germany. To make a long story short, Magnum the ice cream is here... brought to us by the kind folks of Unilever Philippines. can't tell you how HOOKED I was when I first bit into its crunchy outer topping made of the finest Belgian chocolate and then drowned in the silky, ... Meeting LuLu at Rockwell
An invitation that read "this is where PNoy took Grace Lee out on a date" certainly got me curious about the new restaurant called LuLu in Rockwell. Okay, this used to be the old resto called Lu (which I never got to try) until it was sold to the new owners, Chef Tom Hines and DJ/ businessman Rodel Intia. Judging from the initial degustacion (where I sampled a little bit of everything that was on my lunchmates' plates), looks like LuLu is a place I can go to again and again, budget permitting :) First of all, I like the merry mix of contemporary and retro in the ... Korean beef stew recipe a la Grace Lee
If there's an ongoing whirlwind romance between President Aquino and Grace Lee and their three to five hour conversations are indeed true, I am alarmed. What state secrets are possibly being spilled? Do you imagine the repercussions that having a Korean First Lady will bring? Here's some I can think of: 1. Kimchi will replace atsara as the national side dish 2. Bonchon will become the No. 1 fastfood in the Philippines 3. The Spratlys will be annexed to Jeju island 4. Mr. Kim's Korean Grocery will beat Ministop and 7-11 5. More Koreans will "invade" the ... Valentine’s & beyond at the Cheese Steak Shop
Mr. & Mrs. Z are a hopelessly unromantic bunch. V Day gives me the creeps and I certainly don't go ga-ga for flowers and chocolates on this day or ever! But invite me to an eatfest and I could change my mind :) For the ultimate tummy-filler, we recommend the Valentine Royal Feast for the King & Queen of Philly at the lone branch of the Cheese Steak Shop in Manila. Good thing this promo is ongoing until the end of February so you can fulfill your cravings for the meaty goodness of these sinful cheese steaks. The package includes one 10-inch King of Philly Sandwich ... Continue Reading...
Casa Marcos resurrected at the Burgos Circle
You just know you belong to a past generation called the baby boomers (post World War II) if you remember Casa Marcos. This resto - located in Gilmore, and then Tomas Morato - flourished at a time when today's modern fusion restos weren't even conceived yet. Because the original owner was Spanish ( a pelotari named Marcos de Guisasola), it was famous for traditional Spanish favorites like paella, gambas, the original pugon-baked pan de sal and of course its steaks. It's been more than 60 years and there is now a Casa Marcos ran by the second generation of owners at ... Continue Reading...
