The warmest Merry Christmas greetings to this site's readers and friends! So how was your celebration? We spent it in Manila like we've done through the years. The traffic and the shopping were toxic.. at one point I wished I was in another time, or another planet. Anyway, here's my half-finished table setting last night. I love Christmas coz of the decor we have to play with! Christmas is truly a big event in the Philippines, but from what I know New Year's here is an even bigger eating affair. We take out all round objects and the family table epitomizes the ... Continue Reading...
Sinigang forever!…with Knorr
I was also an OFW once before so I know the feeling. One of the first things we miss about home is the food. As we fly home and the plane touches down in the runway, the craving gets more intense.Images of adobo, sinigang, pinakbet and lechon fill the mind. Food company Knorr chose sinigang as the focal point of the red-carpet welcome they gave the country's returning OFWs recently. The “Knorr Sinigang’s Umuwi sa Sarap ng Sinigang” campaign added a flavorful twist to airport salubongs. Arriving OFWs were invited to a cozy dining area at the NAIA Terminal 3 where ... Binulo & Koko Buri restaurants in Clark
Pampanga will always be a culinary haven for me. On a recent trip to the Clark Freeport Zone, we made sure to try some restos the family has never tried before even though we were there for just an overnight. Ordering room service at the hotel isn't just my style ... I gotta get out! :D We arrived late afternoon and scheduled our dinner at Binulo restaurant. Their branch in Clark is quite spacious, suitable for drinking and conversing. They take pride in serving authentic Kapampangan food and am glad they didn't disappoint! Service was good too. Mostly, I took the ... Continue Reading...
Xmas desserts from Bizu
Nothing says posh and exquisite than your very own dessert arrangement from Bizu for your party. One of Manila's top patisseries is laying out a Land of the Sweets theme with each branch festooned with toy soldiers, dolls, candles, flowers and even the Sugarplum Fairy and her Cavalier. In the photo (right), we love Gaspard - a Christmas chocolate ornament ball on top of a classic financier cake. Inside, when cracked, is a medley of flavors – hazelnut praline mousse with passion fruit and orange cremeux. Surround your Christmas table with Macaron de Paris ... Continue Reading...
Watami now in the Philippines!
Note: The first branch of this popular international Japanese casual restaurant chain is at the Mall of Asia. Kudos to the Bistro group (TGI Friday's, Italianni's etc.) for bringing Watami to Manila and the Philippines. First impressions: lots of items to choose from in the menu, food is good, prices are affordable and service is quick. Ambiance is modern industrial and I love the couch seating. I dig the fact that they have a half serving of their in-house Watami Salad at P220 which already looks like a full serving to me. This salad can be a meal in itself ... Continue Reading...
