It's barely three weeks before Christmas and some of us are already planning which festive, delectable food will grace our tables. Learn from the expert as Maya Kitchen's Elite Culinary Series presents chef Sau Del Rosario in a Noche Buena special tomorrow, December 5, from 9am to 1pm. Chef Sau - who is presently the culinary director for the Center for Culinary Arts Manila - will teach guests and students how to prepare the following holiday dishes: Tamales, a type of Filipino rice cake made from rice flour simmered with coconut, annatto and shrimp stock ... Authentic Flavours of Thailand at Cucina in @marcopolomanila
Just a heads-up: last two days to catch the Authentic Flavours of Thailand promotion over at Marco Polo Ortigas' all-day dining restaurant Cucina, if you're hankering for real Thai food this weekend. Two Bangkok-based chefs were especially flown in for the week-long event. They are Chefs Sunisa Nualthongkaew and Watcharavee Rujechotiphat. They held a cooking demo and will prepare well-loved Thai dishes for all diners of Cucina. Among these are popular classics like pad thai, goong sa rong (deep fried prawns in vermicelli), tom yung goong & this delicious green ... Continue Reading...
Jamie’s Italian Restaurant in Kuta Beach, Bali
.... and so it came to pass that I spent my birthday having lunch with Emilie's daughter, Patricia, in Jamie's Italian Restaurant fronting Kuta Beach in Bali. It was just an ordinary day for me, I try not to be sentimental about it. There's no denying and whining about the fact that I have AGED (like fine wine, mind you, and not stinky like blue cheese! lol). But since birthdays are mandated to be special, I spent it at Jamie's Italian which was my favorite resto for the trip (not having explored much...). I've always liked Jamie Oliver's recipes posted in ... Continue Reading...
Frank & Dean, Forbes Town Center BGC
I've been loving hanging out in Frank & Dean (or Frank X Dean) lately. The ambiance is cool and I super love the service. I don't have the words 'blogger' written on my forehead but I just dig how they let me power my gadgets for free and one time they event lent a charger for my Samsung phone. How many establishments can actually do that? Regardless of the food or the pricing, good service really racks up points in a customer's memory. So I figure that if I were a full-time digital nomad, I'd be hanging out in Frank & Dean all day. Except that I'll totally fatten ... Continue Reading...
Kitchen 1B organic resto at KL Tower
By this time, I've eaten in a number of health-oriented restaurants in Manila and I've come to the conclusion that organic resto also equals 'expensive'. Kitchen 1B is no exception but it was a given to eat here since it's on the ground floor of KL Tower. (Tip: try booking in-house by calling the hotel since they bundle the rooms with a free breakfast package at Kitchen 1B. We didn't get ours since it wasn't on offer in Agoda). The resto was very spacious, a place you won't be ashamed to bring your loved ones or friends. It had an open shelving, open kitchen ... Continue Reading...
