I've found a favorite cheese recipe and it's so easy to make! The dish is queso fundido which is the Mexican equivalent of the cheese fondue or cheese dip. I prepared this over the weekend while the girls and I were watching TV. It's really a comfort dish on those lazy days and even when you're having a party! Most of all, I love that queso fundido has all my favorite things: cheese, onions,tomatoes, peppers, chorizo and milk. This pairs well with plain tortilla chips though the pack of Tostitos I had in the pantry seemed okay too :) To make the queso fundido, ... Continue Reading...
Favorite coffeeshop in 2015: Costa Coffee
Sometimes you'd wonder if there's still room for another coffee label in Manila. It seems we already have everything. Britain's Costa Coffee certainly changed the game when they opened their first branch in Eastwood City in mid-2015. I missed that opening but have been to their subsequent branches in Robinsons Place Manila and One World Place in BGC. I must say it's my favorite place to hang out in these days. So photogenic! I find it fun to chill in Costa and make a few Instagram-worthy memories with my daughters. These photos were taken at the BGC ... Continue Reading...
@TheFarmOrganics : a fave restaurant in 2015
2015 for me was about going back to the basics. The number of restaurants opening in Manila became so dizzying that I lost track anymore. It seems people became so obsessed with knowing what's hot and what the latest food trends are that the essence of appreciating food as it is got sidelined in the equation. In my case, it was about eating healthier and going back to the basics as I mentioned earlier. Food without the fuss but still good! ....which brings me to The Farm Organics. I know it's kinda late but I only discovered this place during a Megaworld food tour ... Continue Reading...
Mario’s special menu for the holidays
There's no place like the enduring Mario's restaurant to celebrate the bounty of the holiday season. Its menu evokes indulgence and satisfaction in culinary delights. Mario's lays out the red carpet for its diners by offering time-honored favorites to grace every family's festive table like the Paella Valenciana with its generous mixture of seafood, chicken, pork and sausage - There's also tender, melt-in-the-mouth prime rib, chicken galantina and even roast turkey with a choice of American or Spanish-style stuffing. (all photos courtesy of Mario's) Not to ... Continue Reading...
US Potato Board Thanksgiving dinner at Terraz
Thanksgiving is hardly celebrated in the Philippines but each year we're lucky enough to celebrate it in a fabulous way courtesy of our friends from the US Potato Board. It has become a tradition to enjoy a multi-course dinner prepared by a celebrity chef with much wine and chatter to go around. You'd certainly feel you were in good ol' America! Venue for this year's festivity was Terraz, a fine dining Continental restaurant at the Zuellig Building in Makati. I was glad to set foot here for the first time after snaking through Manila's infamous rush hour pre-holiday ... Continue Reading...
