A few jaded Manilans like me need to have a good reason to go all the way to the Ortigas Business District. And last week, my reason was to dine at the award-winning Cantonese restaurant of the Marco Polo hotel, Lung Hin. Located on the hotel's 44th floor, Lung Hin is all about sleek, tasteful interiors. And several window seats even afford one the enviable view of the Metro Manila skyline. Our friend, Marco Polo Ortigas Manila's Director of Marketing Communications Judith Los Baños ,invited us to an intimate lunch to celebrate two things: Lung Hin's ... Continue Reading...
Sunday lunch buffet at Mario’s
The Mario's buffet has been there for as long as we can remember. It's truly one thing that never gets old and has stayed consistent through the years. No wonder, families and friends make it a point to flock to the resto on Sundays when the buffet spread gets to be extra sumptuous, as compared to the rest of the week. What you can expect at the buffet which costs only a little more than a thousand pesos net per person: tender and melt-in-your-mouth cochinillo with golden, crispy, crunchy skin; moist turkey roasted to perfection; roast beef and roast leg of lamb ... In Parañaque : Confusion Diner, BF Homes
There are a few perks I can think of when it comes to living in the South of Metro Manila. One of them is free parking (!!) in commercial establishments. Yes, even in some of the SM malls. The South is also known for great food. So when residents hear of a new resto or joint opening up, we usually make a beeline to try it. Lease turnover is fast but more often, we aren't disappointed. The area can really pride itself of outstanding home cooks, oftentimes self-taught out of sheer passion for all things culinary. One new place that we can vouch for because we've ... New ways to cook with Spanish sardines this Lent
Holy Week 2016 is upon us and you know what this means. A lot of people in this Catholic-dominated country will be fasting or just resort to eating fish, vegetables and seafood. I happen to be one of those who have taken a vow to just eat light for Lent and give up on the gluttony. So I was really glad when the lovely PR of Mega Creations sent me a few bottles of their Premium Sardines (Spanish Style). This is exactly the kind of stuff I eat this season. Sardines is reputed to be a good source of essential Omega 3 fatty acids, aside from being very high in calcium ... Continue Reading...
HK must-eats : Kam’s Roast Goose & Yat Lok
When in Hong Kong, I happily recommend going on a wild goose chase (pardon the pun) in any of the 1 star Michelin restaurants that serve, well....the famed roasted goose! One might argue that we have every imaginable franchise food chain in Manila but not these restos. Their locations are kinda out of the way (hence 'goose chase) but you can easily satisfy your tummy and tastebuds for less than HKD$100.Now who can argue with that? The first restaurant I tried a few years ago was Yat Lok over at Stanley St. in Central. The roasted goose was so juicy and flavorful ... Continue Reading...
