I wasn't able to visit the Royce chocolates stall while in Singapore, so it was quite a relief to find a Royce counter in Harbor City, Kowloon. My HK-based friend Mira told me Royce is available in City Super, I didn't quite know there are a number of them in the territory. Note the picture: the shop girl didn't want me to take a picture but I guess it was too late :P Silly me wanted these Royce chocolated-dipped potato chips to myself, and would have bought a dozen, if my budget allowed. They were simply addictive! What could be more sinful than Royce's divine ... Continue Reading...
Food-trippin’ in Singapore … almost;)
Am I glad none of my friends told me to eat at Pepper Lunch in Singapore. I've really had enough of Pepper talk awready. I honestly think the blog is more entertaining than the food :P We got to eat at No Signboard Seafood resto instead. It was good that their branch in the Esplanade Mall was just a short walk from my hotel. Every implanted Pinoy in Singapore recommends tasting their crabs which is heavenly. We ordered the one in chili sauce which didn't taste so spicy but looked like it had been mixed to perfection with some egg sauce or such. No Signboard is so ... Continue Reading...
Greenbelt restos unveil ‘Tasting Room’ menu
I haven't had the time to join any of the blogger food tours, so it was kinda overwhelming to try Appetite Magazine's Grand Launch of the Tasting Room, in cooperation with the swanky restos of Greenbelt 2, 3 & 5. Imagine partaking as much as you can of the buffet spread of 15 restaurants participating in the Tasting Room promotion which lasts until the end of May. Our verdict: it's worth trying. A degustation or tasting menu, after all, gives diners a chance to try the culinary specialties of their favorite restos at a fraction of the usual price. The ... Continue Reading...
Japan shopping… Japan Home Center, that is!
My kids must be happy to go back to school this year. My bento obsession has led me to buy all sorts of lunch boxes imaginable. There are strictly no bento lunch sets for sale yet in our shores - unless you buy abroad or shop online - but I think you just have to use existing containers in all sizes to assemble your bento kit. My bento lunch box addiction led me to retrace my footsteps to Japan Home Center in a major mall. This is a place which prides itself of its Made in Japan knick-knacks, and almost everything is P88 or less - like those 100 Yen stores in ... Continue Reading...
When rice prices are high, eat kamote…
My Sweetheart recently sent me an online delivery of kamote, in memory of that yummy kamote cue we tasted in Batanes. Come to think of it, the focus is now on considering other alternatives for our daily staple, rice, whose prices are rising by the day. If you do the marketing for your household, you will really feel the pinch since P34 is now the lowest price per kilo, whereas before that will buy you the high grade, premium variety already. The benefits of eating kamote (sweet potato) cannot be underestimated. I do know of friends who go on a diet and just eat ... Continue Reading...
