I enjoyed the Hong Kong Flower Show 2013 and it was a lucky coincidence that I am in HK again for the flower show's 2016 edition! Even better: the family was billeted in Causeway Bay which was just a short walk away from the show's venue in Victoria Park. Entrance to the HK Flower Show is HKD$14 while for kids it's only $7. The event is organized annually by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department of Hong Kong and if you want to see this next year, make sure you are in the territory by second week of March. For 2016, the show runs until March 20. Can't ... Continue Reading...
Climbing Lantau Peak, Hong Kong’s second tallest mountain
Climbing Lantau Peak was one unexpected thing to do in 'touristy' Hong Kong. I had mentioned to a reliable guide that I wanted to go hiking in the territory, so I was expecting some leisurely walking on plains and plateaus. I never imagined that the hiking would involve a steep climb to Lantau Peak, Hong Kong's second highest mountain which was about 3000 feet above sea level. And I was thinking: for all the excellent food now surrounding Manila, skyscraper (not just high-rise) dining is what's missing in our city. But it should definitely come true in the future. Tosca on the 102nd floor of The Ritz-Carlton is named after the well-known opera by Giacomo Puccini. The resto's decor theme is Romanesque with its high ceilings, stately chandeliers, ... In HK: the giant rubber duck
Art Basel 2013 was the "it" event in Hong Kong last week but the majority remained crazy about the giant rubber duck that's been positioned in Victoria Harbor since May 2. Towering at 54 feet, it is a travelling art installation by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman and is slated to visit the US next after previous visits to Osaka, France, Sydney, Auckland and Sao Paulo. Was lucky enough to be in the territory and I admit it makes for a spectacular sight, especially when placed amidst a backdrop of HK's famous skyline ;) I was imagining our Manila Bay can experience ...
