Caffe Freddo is a brunch spot that has just opened at the side of The Spa Building in Bonifacio High Street BGC, where CAV Wine Shop used to be. There’s one thing to describe this new coffee shop: world-class. With its warm, inviting ambiance and the quality of its menu offerings, this coffee shop is just the same level as what you would find in other cosmopolitan cities of the world like Singapore, Melbourne or New York.
Melbourne and New York, you say? Spot on Caffe Freddo takes pride in offering premium coffee brews originating from those two cities. The cafe specifically offers Bluestone Lane, an Australian-born coffee lifestyle brand that has expanded to the US and Canada.
“I’m a fan of Bluestone Lane in New York city so I’ve decided to bring their coffee beans to Manila,” noted owner Scott Tan whose family is also behind The Spa wellness and Bonchon Philippines.
“My philosophy in business has always been … anyone and everyone deserves good food, and that includes beverages. Third wave is very much alive, and as a coffee drinking country, I think the time is ripe to bring in premium coffee that is more than just a caffeine fix. I believe coffee can be something really special,” Scott added.
They take coffee so seriously that Caffe Freddo even has a head of coffee operations in Kayo Cosio, a master barista and trainer. From plain black to chai latte to flat white, the place serves a wide range of coffee selections which can be enjoyed hot or cold.
The prices aren’t bad either, from P110 for the most basic to P150 for The Freddo, the house specialty which is an iced coffee drink with a double shot of espresso and sweetened thick frothed milk. This drink also comes in Mocha, Chai and Coco variants.
For those who want a “coffee with a kick,” there’s Kendo Rose (P190) which consists of a double shot of espresso, tonic water, rose syrup and lemon. Definitely a must-try!
…and while most coffee shops offer only limited milk options, Caffe Freddo customers can choose from four kinds of milk to accompany their brew, depending on their dietary preference. Traditional drinkers will choose for whole milk anytime, while vegans and whole food advocates will definitely opt for almond, coconut or oat milk.
Food is the other best thing to love about Caffe Freddo. Their colorful avocado and hummus tartines are not only instagrammable, they are also yummy and nutritionally healthy 🙂
Of course there are traditional brunch favorites like a vibrant muesli bowl for clean-eating advocates, pancakes, bagels, two eggs benedict and croque madame, to name just a few.
Caffe Freddo adopts a Modern European brunch theme and the dishes were put together by seasoned Chef Markus Gfeller, with emphasis on the freshest ingredients. Aside from the all-day breakfast options, the coffeeshop also has salads, soups, pasta, pizza and comfort food like fried chicken.
Well, of course, do not forget the desserts like this delicious banana trifle. There’s also warm berry crumble, mango granita, Greek yogurt panna cotta plus an assortment of cookies, cakes and muffins in the cafe bakery.
We enjoyed our time in Caffe Freddo… definitely putting it in the list of Manila’s Best Brunch Places. Check it out now at The Spa building, 9th avenue, in Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig.
