I can’t explain why at the height of tropical storm Falcon last week, I was dreaming of my own little Paris in Makati, a quaint patisserie called Paris Delice ….
Paris, of course, is one place I have to go which probably explains my fascination for this small place in Juno St. near Jupiter. I’ve been harboring a vain battle to eat light like a French woman. Paris Delice hits the spot with its offerings of soups, salads and sandwiches. None of the greasy fried rice and other stuff that we, Pinoys, are accustomed to eat with our main meals.
The only thing sinful about Paris Delice are its sweets, and there’s quite a number in the menu: cakes, cookies and pastries! I instantly liked this banana chocolate cake (only P55 per slice) which is a twist on good ol’ banana bread. It certainly speaks “homemade” ….
More chocolatey goodness. The pain au chocolat (P60 a piece) in Delice is a classic. Best served warm, preferably with your favorite hot drink. You’ll know this pastry is perfectly made because it’s soft in the center and leaves light crumbs on your surface as you bite into it. The chocolate in the center becomes a much-deserved treat!
The house’s salmon omelet, paired with half a baguette. Though the chef got too liberal with the salt that morning, I liked how fluffy this omelette turned out to be.
Hubby’s order of baguette flambee was worth trying too. This was a half roll topped with bacon, cheese, onions and cream
A serving of Quiche Lorraine, the most popular of the French quiches.I remember the time when I made my first quiche.. am certainly willing to do it again 😀
Coffee, cookie and the newspaper. The perfect ending to a breakfast at Paris Delice.
