From the owners of Fiamma Bar and Il Ponticello Cafe Ristorante in Makati City comes now Borough, a bar-cum-restaurant in Mandaluyong’s Podium Mall. I first read about this resto in Yummy Magazine and thought it best to visit while waiting for our bus going to Ilocos to depart from Ortigas on a Thursday night.
Best reason to come back here with the kids: the Fried Chicken and Waffles!(P280). We know how fried chicken can be most people’s everyday comfort food, but this is prolly the tastiest chicken I’ve tasted in a long time, made even more indulgent by a savory gravy that tasted like it didn’t come out of a ready-made pack. . The dish is described in the menu as ” quarter chicken cured in sweet tea, paired with pumpkin waffle, served with maple syrup gravy and roasted pecan butter.” Thumbs-up!
Perusing their menu, it was pretty apparent that Borough likes experimenting with pumpkins. Hubby ordered Homemade Pumpkin Ravioli (P250) which was served with walnuts and cranberries, then drizzled with basil puree. Go for this if you want a pasta experience that’s out of the ordinary . I wouldn’t mind trying their Rigatoni laced with Vodka too…. but unfortunately, I am only in Podium once in a blue moon 😀
Chips with a sour cream dip that was quite addictive. Mmmmm!
The house tomato soup…. There are still other dishes I wanna try.
If Makati has Mr. Jones, am glad that peeps in the Ortigas-Mandaluyong area can now hangout in Borough. You decide which one is better 😀 Go to this place if you want to take your comfort food to the next level.
