I love, love reading Trip Advisor reviews. In fact, making published notes of all the hotels I’ve stayed in (all-expenses paid and those I paid for!) is high on my must-do list. I just dig how guests become so candid, if a service dissatisfies them, or how they glow with praises if they’re happy with their accommodations. When somebody writes ” their rooms are disgusting DO NOT WEAR BEAR FOOT>>>>STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL BY ALL MEANS…” (quote unquote) you just gotta believe them 😀 And having a positive review on Trip Advisor should be what every well-meaning hotel should aim for, considering that the reviews are not only authoritative but also lands HIGH in the search engines.
So yeah, I felt a sense of pride when Boracay was chosen among the Top 10 Sun and Beach Destinations in the World for 2010 by the site’s millions of members. It just goes to show that we don’t have to go anywhere fancy, like the Bali or Bahamas.
The complete list:
1. Providinciales, Turks & Caicos island
2. Tulum, Mexico
3. Byron Bay, Australia
4. Cook Islands
5. Myrtle Beach, South Carolina
6. Huatulco, Mexico
7. Negril, jamaica
8. Culebra, Puerto Rico
9. Boracay, Philippines
10. San Diego, California
In Boracay, those listed as must-see attractions and experiences include Tirta Spa, Ariel’s Point Nature’s Best Trip, Balinghai Beach, White Beach, Yapak or Puka Shell Beach, Crocodile island, Mt. Luho, Talipapa Market, and Willy’s Rock, among others.
Trip Advisor’s traveler-members have described Boracay as ‘the most beautiful place on earth’, ‘truly stunning,’ and ‘world’s best sand.’

I’ve heard about this from a friend in Australia just months before the tragic hostage taking happened. 🙁

This is definitely great news. My family went there a week after the hostage taking. Unfortunately there are small pieces of trash on the shore, I just hope it doesn’t get worse.

People may have different reasons for having a vacation; wanting to escape from a traumatic experience through a new environment, a break from work, or simply to enjoy. Whatever the reason is, one of the best destinations is the United Kingdom.

Yes Jab, I do hope that the residents and merchants of Boracay will do something about the worsening environmental situation there, to protect that beautiful stretch of beach 😉

Yes I agree, the UK is beautiful!!! (if not for the weather) 😀
