A few weeks ago, I crossed something off my to-do list, and that is go biking at the sprawling UP Diliman campus. This was through a cycling trip arranged by Travel Factor. TF is great for when you are a couple, a group or by your lonesome. In the latter case, you don’t get to feel alone being bunched together with other people, mostly young professionals.
So far, I have done Ilocos Norte and Sagada with the Travel Factor in my bid to see more of the Philippines. For this biking trip, fee was only P950 inclusive of the mountain bike, bottled water, the TF Magazine and the services of the bike guide or trail master.
A bike clinic set off our adventure for the day. This is when our guide explains the route, the parts of the bike and how to handle it.
He explained that the UP trail is great for beginners since most of it is straight & concrete. But there are off roads too. (I actually skipped on these, as I haven’t biked in a long time and might injure myself)
Souvenir pic before taking off. The guide told me to get rid of the bag as it might get caught in the bike.
Lighting wasn’t so good here, but here’s our group pic with the famous UP Oblation as the background
We also stopped by familiar landmarks such as the tree-laden UP Oval –
The UP College of Architecture –
There were other stops but I was too engaged in the activity to use the camera 🙂
On the second hour, we stopped by UP’s rather worn down mall and I got to taste the legendary Rodic’s tapsilog. Eto pala yun, LOL
There was a healthy fruit shake stall as well.
A downer for this cycling trip was summer’s sweltering heat. But overall, it was good. The more adventurous can try Travel Factor’s biking schedules in other places, namely Nuvali in Sta. Rosa, Laguna; Maarat, San Mateo, Rizal; La Mesa Nature Reserve Quezon City; Banaue & Batad, Ifugao; Baler, Aurora. For some of these places, you have the option to bring your own bike or let TF take care of the bike rental, at a higher joining fee.

Shame you didn’t bring your own bike. Nicer than those MTBs.
