My short but eventful vacation has left me speechless. Am once again struck in awe at all the natural splendor I’ve witnessed. Am oozing with such positive aura from this trip that here’s no room for even an ounce of irritation even if our Cebu Pacific flight to Manila was delayed for an hour and a half (talk about the new Filipino time) ; even if it was a tad cumbersome to be lugging my luggage from one port to the next after what seemed like an eternity of boat rides. Luckily, there were porters to do most of the work for us!
The islands we went to in Guimaras were simply breathtakingly adoringly beautiful, as I will post in the next few days. You will not really have an inkling if you just go to the town proper with its commercial billboards, pesky tricycles and plethora of sari-sari stores. The real thrill lies in riding these uniquely Filipino outrigger boats and discovering secluded beaches; just letting the combined power of the sun and wind caress your face, then just letting ’em tan your face because you know there’s no friggin’ cellphone signal and internet connection, much more WiFi or broadband. You’re cut off from the rest of the world and surprisingly you love it, even if I was worried stiff about the writing deadline I had to meet.
Here are some of my semi-philosophical ramblings from this trip:
I do feel that am overdosing on my vacations but I can never overdose on nature, that much is true. How can I ever migrate with my family to New Zealand if I keep on doing this? hehe.I really appreciate the Philippines on these trips. We are blessed with wonderful weather, majestic mountains and sun-kissed beaches. I guess these are things that no First World Superpower can ever take away from us or claim dominance over us.
It is terrible to be gorging on all the buffet food and then reasoning out “di bale, seafood naman.” 😛
Definitely, I don’t want to be like some people who go on junkets, food fests and all-expense paid vacations then have the bilbil/beer belly to show for it.
But sadly, it is beginning to happen to me. If a genie were to appear today and I was given a free lipo session with Dr. Vicky Belo, I don’t know which would go first, the legs or the tummy. One of these days, I’d inevitably have to choose between my love for food and the desire to keep fit.
In between trodding the great outdoors, I actually still had time to contemplate my Brazilian in the shower. It really feels like something’s lacking and after all’s said and done, I sometimes miss my hair!!:P
Vacations are a great time to have a crush on somebody even if it’s shameful to admit when you’re in your mid-30s. I did. 😛
Having a vacation and not thinking about sex is a mean feat for somebody who’s actually a little devil in sheep’s clothing, my unspoken hobby being mentally dressing and undressing interesting people I meet.
Drinking a lethal mix of Black Russian and Long Island Iced Tea makes me croon all those mushy Carpenters songs on the karaoke.

What??! A vacation without sex? Boy, that’s one tall order. Whatever happened to good, ol’ 3-Esses —sun, sand and sex! Anyways, I’ve noticed in your Blog that you’ve been having an overdose of it – vacation trips, I mean! Palawan, San Pablo, HK, Guimaras….I’d be contended with any one of them to keep me going through this terrible heat in the desert. Lucky girl!

what a hobby, i.e. mentally undressing ….ha ha ha ha. Next time, i do that too
when i am at the airport and feeling bored, watching people get by.

Are your trips part of your job? If they are, you’re so very very lucky! It’s really important I think to be able to see the Philippines in all its beauty and diversity. Going abroad to see the sights is great… but we should also appreciate our own country. Your blog proves that. Keep up the good job.

You’re so lucky you can travel. The last time I explored the Philippines was before I got married. And that’s like 20 years ago.

It is a bummer to go to different places and never get laid……Either I use it or loose it.
…..Thanks to the inventor of viagra….haba,haba, haba….LOL…

Enjoy the sun, the wind and the nice climate while you’re there.
New Zealand although beautifully landscaped (set of Lord of the Rings), certainly do not have anything near it and a lot of Kiwi’s would kill to have a climate like Phils.
Except for the occassional Caloy’s, its perfect.

Rudy, I don’t know what it is with your haba-haba thing. The expression is beginning to grate me!!! Given a choice between shopping and sex during a vacation, I prefer shopping 100%. The truth of the matter is that I can’t even be found in my hotel room as I am most likely seeing the sights. But of course, somebody who is sex-obsessed like you would choose otherwise. FYI, I reserve the right to delete repetitive comments in the future.
Hi Ogie, I thought the climate is perfect in NZ. But then again, experiencing the glorious Philippine weather since birth, we have no choice but to give thanks for this blessing..
Rudy says
I am sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you or make you feel uncomfortable….I got the haba words from the jive people which they say that word due to excitement. I don’t see anything wrong with it.
Ogie says
When you finally settle in NZ, and if you do not mind, let me know.
We live in OZ but frequently go to NZ due to work and short vacation.
ajay says
Hi Ogie. Relocation to New Zealand is still a long shot:grin: but maybe will visit Oz or NZ. Will keep you posted then:wink:
Apology taken Rudy. Maybe it’s a cultural thing that some people can appear obnoxious to others. Thanks for reading my blog.
