I can’t quite contain my excitement upon knowing that I was going to have a baby girl again. Maybe because am biased towards the fact that girls are generally easier to raise than boys? LOL. But hubby and I couldn’t really care what gender the baby is for as long as it came out normal and healthy. It just turned out that a girl is what God gave us for this, my last baby (yes, am not having any more)
We’re counting the weeks when she appears 😉 In the meantime, am coping with the occasional sluggishness, sleepiness and aches that a prego woman often encounters. Even though am still reporting to work, I haven’t really gone through this pregnancy in a breeze. What I really miss is malling and shopping as it seems I can’t even walk a decent distance without feeling my tummy tightening up.
Part of the excitement of pregnancy is having ultrasounds: first to know the gender of the baby, and second to have an idea how the baby looks like through the magic of 3D/4D ultrasound. I’ve had several throughout this pregnancy, and it’s generally considered safe, thanks to modern technology. 3D produces a still image, while 4D enables one to view a live video of the fetus in the womb.
Here’s a series of pictures of our baby girl. I don’t know about the skin color, but I think she resembles her daddy more 😀 During the sessions, we were able to see her yawn, smile and stick her tongue out. That was really thrilling!
My first 4D ultrasound was done in the hospital (St. Luke’s Global City, to be exact) but since it proved to be unsuccessful and was more expensive, we tried In My Womb which is found in major malls in Manila. We had ours done at their branch in the 2nd level South Parking of the Mall of Asia. We availed of their Pearl Package for P2,800 and this also entitled us to 2 return visits within 14 days. We returned because the doctor-sonologist couldn’t get a full profile of the baby, either because her position is not good or she was covered by the placenta. There were times when I was advised to leave the room for a few minutes and return only when I’ve drank enough water. Ugh.
The MOA branch of In My Womb wasn’t really that big. What I hated was the fact that the lifestyle magazines in their waiting area dates back to 2001-2003 (in short, really old!). I did like the fact that the OB-sonologist who attended to me was very persistent in getting an image.
Still, I would recommend that you have your ultrasound in your doctor’s hospital if they have a good ultrasound unit. They’re bound to interpret results more comprehensively. I would have happily gone to the Makati Medical Center, if only it wasn’t too far from me.
I do think having an ultrasound is good for one’s peace of mind, as it can also detect fetal abnormalities early on. It is also a great souvenir of one’s pregnancy. I consider it the highlight of my day to open the ultrasound CD we’ve been provided with and look at the images. It brings a smile to my face and it comforts me as I dream of the day when I give birth and hold my baby for real.

I’m planning to have my 4D at In My Womb pa naman since my hospital don’t have 4D I think. But it’s a few months away pa naman so I can research for their services on their other branches. How far along were you when you had your 4D?
