Skin care addicts treat Aveeno like a cult product – pricier than the others but hailed for its deeply moisturizing properties and for doing wonders to persistent medical conditions like atopic dermatitis or eczema. Though it has existed in the world market for a long time, news that it’s finally available in the Philippines was welcomed with relief by its followers.
That’s right, we no longer have to order this from abroad or hoard in S&R!
On the table: Aveeno Daily Moisturizing Lotion (retail price: P459.75) which is the No.1 body lotion formula sold in the US.
We were fortunate enough to attend the launch of Aveeno Philippines at the Blue Leaf Pavilion recently. The global ambassador of the brand is Jennifer Aniston while locally, three lovely women were chosen as the faces of Aveeno. They are singer-actress Nikki Gil, celebrity host Christine Jacob-Sandejas, and triathlete Jaymie Pizzaro of The Bull runner.
Though all three of them look gorgeous enough, they all have their skin horror stories to tell. As a woman, I can relate to this myself because while I hardly get sick, my sensitive skin is my greatest problem and it can really be a nuisance when you feel discomfort.
Thankfully, Aveeno is hypoallergenic and fragrance free. The main ingredient, colloidal oatmeal, contains five vital nutrients, namely proteins, anti-oxidant, vitamins, polysaccharides and lipids to effectively cleanse and moisturize the skin, as well as relieve it from dryness.
“I grew up with very sensitive skin and even went through an acne phase. It also didn’t help that entering showbiz at a young age meant exposing my skin to thick make-up, sleepless nights, exposure to heavy lights and a lot of traveling, which eventually caused my skin to dry up,” said Nikki.
Jaymie, on the other hand, notes how skin problems crop up when training for a race. Aside from sporting a dark tan, there’s chafing, heat rash, sunburn… “you name it!,” she says. Today, she considers the scars derived from intense competitions like the Ironman 70.3 as her own symbol of how strong she is, while relying on products like Aveeno for that much-need skin hydration and maintenance.
Christine Jacob-Sandejas used to represent the country in international swimming tilts and today, as a mom of five, she’s still wary of sunspots and freckles when playing with her kids.
“I have been using Aveeno before it came to the Philippines and I truly appreciate how naturally beautiful my skin looks at the age of 49, thanks to it,” she points out.
