My life has not taken on a normal course since I started this blog a few days ago. Suddenly, I am obsessed with knowing so much about the blogosphere in so little time. I am learning but I can only take so much of wysiwg, site feeds, atom, RSS, hyperlinks and all that stuff. There's a big technorati community out there adept in uttering a new generation of blogspeak which can be Greek to some of us raised in the tradition of Hemingway and Mrs. Dalloway. When I successfully uploaded my design for this blog, I thought blogger was a no-brainer. But then, I spent a ... Continue Reading...
Me on a Sunday
My friend, the Philippine Senate's chief photographer Godfrey L., took a series of pictures of me at Manila's popular Baywalk two weeks ago. They're my favorite pictures this year. It was almost 5 p.m. and he was supposed to take a pic of me with the famous Manila Bay sunset on the background. Alas, the sun hid behind the clouds. We had fun nonetheless, it was completely no-fuss and I wasn't even waearing any make-up. Thanks, Godfrey! ... Continue Reading...
Encounter with a masseur
I have watched macho dancers in a gay bar and watched the same breed of macho dancers gyrating in a hotel room "bridal shower." That was all "for experience." Little did I know that today, I would choose to be massaged by a male attendant, a.k.a. masseur. It all started when I went to my spa aching for my monthly Swedish thing. It must been borne out of my ... Continue Reading...
More of “King Arthur”
This tired, old lady seldom watches movies and so it was a welcome respite when Gigi and I decided to watch King Arthur after gulping down our strawberries & cream frapp at Starbucks. The legend behind King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table will always fascinate me. It is one of conquest, bravery, chivalry and the follies of the human heart. Readers will always find interesting the love angle between Queen Guinevere and Lancelot but the King and his Knights are also identified with one of history's greatest adventures, the quest for the Holy Grail (more on ... Reconnecting
FRIENDS. You lose some, you win some.Meeting a long-lost friend is definitely as refreshing as a cone of ice cream on a summer day.I felt this way when I met Gigi for lunch today at a Chinese hole-in-a-wall. She was a former co-employee and masteral classmate in International Studies at the State U. It has been ten years since we last saw each other.Ten years! And we were so surprised to learn (short of gloating) that we were still slender and in fact, could still be the good friends that we were...Gigi worked for a long time as a public relations manager for a hotel ...
