Reading Da Vinci did bring me back to the time when I visited London with Maria L. in the spring of '96. The pic shows me outside Westminster Abbey whose grand structure was unfortunately not captured by our amateur cams. In the words of Dan Brown, the Abbey is "neither cathedral nor parish church." It is here where the remains of kings, statesmen, scientists, poets and musicians are entombed, including Elizabeth I. It has also witnessed the coronation of William the Conqueror in 1066, the canonization of Edward the Confessor, the marriage of Andrew and Fergie as well ... Continue Reading...
Life without the net
Just when am getting the hang of this blogging thing, I am deprived of access to the internet. The IT experts in my company says it will be a month (!) till they set up the LAN in our new headquarters. For somebody who relies on the net for writing, researching and other purposes, that is quite a long time. Have I become a slave to new technology? Probably yes. You afraid, Me Scorpion?
Though I don’t know much about ruling planets and the sun signs, I do believe in the things that astrologists say about Scorpions as they relate to me. As a Scorpio born in October, I am energetic, independent, passionate, determined, creative, imaginative, powerful, perceptive and intuitive. It' a swell excuse for not being productive and I've been moving from one department to another while they put the finishing touches to our new "locale" which my unit calls "the gas chamber." Thankfully, our boss sympathizes: he has been working from his car.Devoid of any rational thoughts, let me share the songs that's now playing on my car CD:Here's To Love by Roberta Flackwith music by Sadao ... It says that if the Philippines is to follow the example of Mexico and Thailand, we should develop "anchor destinations" following world-class standards and foster a "culture of tourism" nationwide. The long stretch of Manila Baywalk along Roxas Boulevard is perhaps one good example of having no culture of tourism at all.It gives you the impression that the folks at City Hall only care about money, money, money. You park your car and you have to pay a flat rate of P30, the same as in upscale ...
