The week has been a flurry of activities and I pay dearly for it now with symptoms of the flu.It helps that I won the major prize in our Rotary induction last night, a DVD player, so staying in bed munching on chips and watching my favorite movie, suddenly seems like a very good idea.Honestly, I am appreciating my Rotary membership now. It's an entirely different network altogether and I am not daunted by the fact that the males outnumber the females 9:1. In my club, for instance,we are only 3 girls and the other two are twins. Again, I can't complain. They are all ... Continue Reading...
Bowled over
I have a new passion and it doesn't start with the letter m.Am now crazy with bowling and all because am part of our corporate tournament. How a non-bowler like me can represent my department is in itself an anomaly but am trying. My performance is fluctuating from game to game but am staying afloat. Because I'm a newbie, I need to focus and I really have this weird stance on the lane but The Coach says it doesn't matter as long as I score.Am just flattered that Mayan says am the team's "secret weapon" whatever that means. But hey, winning two games in a row is not bad ... Diet is an Alien Word
I've been going to buffet lunches for two days in a row and I feel....FULL.It's hard to resist these things when your boss tags you along as part of your corporate duties. I can't complain. I love to eat but at the same time,I admire vegans who survive on celery sticks for dinner. I simply cannot imagine myself being in that situation. My food philosophy is to indulge what Life feeds you on the silver platter. I don't want to receive my Last Rites thinking of the Ribeye Steak and Nicoise Salad I should have had, all because of that magic word which is the obsession of ... Continue Reading...
Overbooked!
One of my New Year's resolutions is to read more books and I am doing it now. There are many reasons why people resort to reading. It can be an indication of one's financial health (better to read than to shop) or it can be a distress signal of how low your social life has become (whaaaa! where are all the parties? am having a migraine here)I like the fact that reading keeps me celibate and sane at the same time.In literature, you can have all the Mr. Darcys and Robert Kincaids in the world whereas if you choose real life you probably will have to deal with a man who's ... The Lost Art of Gift-Giving
shot with canon ixus i, my must-have gadget this month . It's a sunny Saturday and the day is unfurling beautifully as it should.First, because I meet my LTF (Long-Time Friend) Issa at Rai-Rai Ken and am eating Japanese for three days in a row now. I just looove Japanese food and more so because the doctor has ordered that penne carbonara is bad for my health. I must have been a geisha in my former life and it really is one of my life's wish to visit the atrociously expensive Land of The Rising Sun. Anyway, Ish (who's a diplomat) gave me a pen, a bracelet and a ... Continue Reading...
