KK mosaic Going to Kota Kinabalu was like a leap in the dark. I never knew what to expect there, except that its name sounded exotic enough. After the hustle and bustle of KL, this place was genteel and serene. The people seemed to be supremely at peace with themselves and I can only be a satisfied tourist not having to deal with a single rude encounter (plus somebody returned my wallet!) The city itself was pretty, with its focal points like the jetty, the market and the esplanade, facing the waterfront -- South China Sea to be exact! The lack of any tall ... Continue Reading...
Strange things happened on the way to Kota Kinabalu..
self-portrait Just got back from my marathon two-day, two-night trip to Kota Kinabalu. And photo shows me taking a self-portrait in my hotel room before hitting the tub on a Tuesday night. Anyway, two things happened to me on this trip: One: after telling to me book and pay for our tickets a few months before, my KL travel companion cancelled at the last minute, and all because she was waiting for payola from some Thai highroller Can't believe she can do that, but rather than let her odd mean behavior dampen me, life has to go on. Even though I have boxes of playing cards in the house and even though I've worked as a casino dealer before and now still work in the casino. My job prevents me from playing or gambling so... (buzz me if you want some cards, will you? hehe) I was such a picky eater as a child. Right now, am a certified foodie but when I was small, my meals were limited to eggs and eating rice with soy sauce. As a result, ... Continue Reading...

mosaic4915124 2006 went by in such a dizzying fashion and in order to help me remember the year that just passed, I didn't read through this blog, thank you. I decided to pore over the gallery of images taken from my digicam, camphone or Bluetooth-ed by another. Sharing with you some of my favorite images as they relate to my year, as well as the story behind the stories: (From top left): 1) RH, my best friend and dining buddy for a quarter, whom I regard as one of the nicest guys I ever met. Photo taken in Manila's Chinatown, August 2006. 2) The ... Continue Reading...
