Just a heads-up: last two days to catch the Authentic Flavours of Thailand promotion over at Marco Polo Ortigas’ all-day dining restaurant Cucina, if you’re hankering for real Thai food this weekend.
Two Bangkok-based chefs were especially flown in for the week-long event. They are Chefs Sunisa Nualthongkaew and Watcharavee Rujechotiphat. They held a cooking demo and will prepare well-loved Thai dishes for all diners of Cucina. Among these are popular classics like pad thai, goong sa rong (deep fried prawns in vermicelli), tom yung goong & this delicious green chicken curry called kiew waan gai…among others.
We were delighted when no less than Chef Sunisa prepared our som tam (papaya salad). I’ve always liked this salad for its addicting combination of sour, sweet, salty and spicy. The lady chef was kind enough to ask me how much chili to put in my serving. One thing about Thai food: the spiciness can surprise you sometimes & all you need to do is reach for a tall glass of water, haha.
Cucina starts serving lunch daily from 12 noon to 2:30 pm and dinner from 6 to 10:30 pm. Buffet price is at P1,850 net per person, children 7 to 12 years old pay half the price while kids aged 6 and below eat for free.
