So Cable Car is still ALIVE.. and expanding! Me and the kids were in Bonifacio Global City last Saturday and noticed that the resto-bar has replaced the Kasbah in the Fort Strip. Curiosity (and nostalgia) got the better me so we checked the new place out. Ooops, we actually opened it for the night.
The bar hoppers and partygoers arrive around 9:30 so minors (nay, toddlers) are allowed for the meantime 🙂
I can’t tell you enough how much Cable Car reminds me of the time when my friends and I were still footloose and fancy-free. It would be our last stop after a night of partying in Equinox or Euphoria. And the famous Cable Car Fried Rice would be our midnight snack.
One serving of this fried rice was just massive and of course, filling. Its trademark is the egg on top, but there were big chunks of chicken hidden in the tasty rice which made it a meal in itself.
Fast forward to 2014 and the fried rice (P250 for medium) is not as delicious as I remember it to be. The flavor has become mild and what used to be chicken pieces in the rice has now been replaced with pork bits.
Not to worry, the sisig is still delicious. No, erase that. It is a winner! One of the best sisig I’ve tasted of late in the metro.
We couldn’t have enough of the yummy sisig so we ordered more..this time, it’s the sisig nachos (P250).Sorry for the blurry picture, it was dark in there.
Hmmm, future clubber? But I think my teen daughter is too shy for that 😉
We also got to meet Felix, the cook who has been with Cable Car since it was put up by an American businessman way back in the 1990s.
To end our early night: Coke for my daughter, Zombie for me. I simply had to have this cocktail..reminds me of the good ol’ days, LOL.
Cable Car has branches in the following:
2/F 822 Paseo Tesoro Bldg.
Arnaiz Avenue, San Lorenzo Village, Makati City
CKB Centre Tomas Morato Avenue
Corner Scout Rallos, Quezon City
Cebu City
The Fort Strip, BGC
