After a relaxing stay in Punta Fuego, the family motored to the neighboring town of Calatagan – about 45 minutes away – to have some fun in AQUARIA. It’s primarily a water park (about 1.2 hectares) that’s part of the Playa Calatagan Leisure Tourism Estate. The estate has the beach all around it and will soon be home to a cluster of seaside condominium developments.
As far as I know, Aquaria is the first venture of Landco Pacific Corp. that’s open to the public. Landco has so far specialized only in high-end developments like Punta Fuego, Leisure Farms in Cavite, Hacienda Escudero In Quezon, Playa Calatagan, Playa Laiya in San Juan, Batangas and Playa Azalea in Samal Island, Davao.
Entrance fee in Aquaria is at P400 per person and P200 for kids at least 4 feet tall. This will already entitle you to the use of the pools, beach and the shower. If you’re a big group, there are cabanas for rent from P1,000 to P1,500.
My three girls enjoyed their time in this water park. We loved that we almost had the place to ourselves because it was a weekday and the summer crowds were gone.
A highlight of Aquaria is the three-storey giant pool side but we didn’t try this anymore. Am sure it’s fun! 🙂
The resort’s other facilities include a sunken pool bar and a large dining pavilion called The Sands. There are a host of other activities you can do in the place though, like ride an all-terrain vehicle, take stand-up paddle board lessons, jetski, play volleyball or Frisbee, and even go diving!
The beach behind Aquaria certainly looked serene and inviting. As a city slicker, I always miss this kind of view.
Anyhow, Aquaria and the Playa Calatagan estate are being groomed to be the next Boracay of the South. Here’s a perspective of how the whole area will look like in the very near future –
How to go to Playa Calatagan:
By private vehicle: via SLEX – From the Sta Rosa toll exit, turn right in the Coca Cola junction going to Tagaytay or take Greenfield (Eton exit), turn left at the intersection of Balibago highway stoplight going to Tagaytay.Follow the national highway to Nasugbu, Batangas – As you approach the sugar refinery (which will be on your left side) turn left at the “T” intersection (there will be a Shell gasoline station on your left side) – Proceed through the town of Lian – Follow the national hi-way to Calatagan
