Amazing is the word to describe the 2007 World Light Expo which is ongoing in Manila till April 22. Stepping in, the onlooker is treated to a seeming wonderland of gaily-lit pagodas, intricately-decorated gates and arches, even a 100-meter dragon made from ceramic cups, saucers and plates! I regret not having a professional camera or videocam to capture all this beauty but it sure is a refreshing experience to see the Expo, a welcome breather from the smog and shopaholic excitement which we know Manila is all about.
What to see in the Expo? An entertaining lion dance presentation from the China Circus, spectacular fireworks and water screen laser show, light miniatures of the Eiffel Tower and London Bridge, a 3D theater and all those decor made from a thousand (if not hundred thousand) lights.
Because this is a show of lights, it is best to go here in the evening (about 6 p.m.). The circus starts at 9pm and the laser show, 10 p.m. My kids had a grand time prancing around in the expansive surroundings. There didn’t seem to be many people around when we visited.. was it because it was a weekday or the P300 ticket is too much (good we got ours free, ouch!)
Just got home, and I can’t quite forget the 100-meter long dragon made of plates. Impressive..
