So you’ve probably read by now that Rico’s Lechon of Cebu has opened at the Fort Entertainment Complex in BGC, where Gourdo’s used to be. It is good news to lechon lovers that this brand is on a big expansion mode after being acquired by Meat Concepts Corp., the same company behind Thai BBQ, Tony Roma’s and KPub BBQ, among others. Rico’s will also open this year (2018) in the following locations: Tiendesitas in Pasig; Top of the Glo in Glorietta, Makati; Ayala Malls Cloverleaf and UP Town Center in Quezon City.
Businessman George Pua, the owner of Meat Concepts Corp. was a top customer of Rico’s when it was still only found in Cebu. “I personally believe it’s the best and we take pride in sharing the deliciousness of this lechon with the rest of the country, and eventually the world.”
Mr. Pua said one feature of Rico’s Lechon BGC is the Roasting Pit. It is the high-tech way of making lechon since the temperature can be adjusted and there is also an innovative mechanism for the exhaust. The pit can be viewed by customers and passersby alike.
There was a lot of the media who attended the opening of Rico’s Lechon BGC and we were able to meet the man who started it all, Mr. Rico Dionson (the man beside me, to the left. Also shown are fellow bloggers Fitz and Don).
Anyway, I really liked Rico’s Lechon the first time I tasted it in Cebu. If you can take a little zing, their spicy lechon is a must-try! Price of the original/spicy lechon is P900/950 per kilo.
But of course, there are other dishes worth trying, especially since Filipinos love sharing a full table laden with lots o food with friends and family. The good news is that everything is reasonably priced.
The lechon sisig (P320) is worth trying since it has the right level of spiciness and is a chock full of meat.
In the media tasting session, I also liked the sizzling tanguigue (P380), the seafood Kare Kare (395) and the bam-i (P280).
Check out also other must-try food like the crispy feetchon, dinuguan, pusit na pinaputok, kinilaw, chicken inasal etc. And to wash all the grease down, try the desserts like this yummy buko pandan mix.
Rico’s Lechon BGC is open from 10 am to 10pm. For inquiries, contact 0917-8447067. Follow on Facebook & Instagram @RicosLechonOfficial or check out the website www.ricoslechon.com
