I announced before the opening of Black Canyon Coffee in SM Southmall & yesterday I was glad to finally try it (after braving the rain & heavy traffic in Alabang-Zapote Road… ouch!)
For a coffeeshop, the interiors were quite elegant and spacious. People in the South are lucky to have another place to hang out in … the area is in The Food Strip of Southmall which is awash with new restaurants.
You gotta love the menu when it says ssomething like this. Go ahead, feed my addiction 🙂
When in Black Canyon, try the Thai Iced Tea with milk (P80). I could have tried their hot coffee selections but I wasn’t in the mood for it that day.
I love the shape of the glass of their Mexican Coffee …. I will try on my next visit!
Must-tries when you’re at Black Canyon: the award-winning Pad Thai. This serving could do with a much stronger taste but otherwise good.
I was happy with the rice meal of stir-fried curry prawns, mushrooms, chicken & chili at only P144. Would recommend this.
The spicy stir-fried kale with bacon (P138 a serving) had a very delicious sauce. This is something you can happily pair with your Jasmine rice.
The only dish I didn’t finish was the Spicy Glass Noodles and Grilled Salmon Salad. This had too much dressing and I realized I prefer my salmon pan-fried with teriyaki sauce than put in a salad. But then again, this is just my subjective taste.
Because the staff are still getting themselves familiar in the kitchen, orders can take a long time to be delivered. I am amazed though at the extent of their menu. You can choose to have your favorite frappe here and at the same time have a decent rice meal. Noodles, soups, sandwiches, desserts and even Western food like steaks are also being offered.
