After taking this test, am glad I still have my sanity intact. 60% would have made me too lax (relaxed?) and 89% would seem to make it appear that I have no other life and need therapy fast!! 😛 It helps that am not online for the most part of the day.
Am also surprised to learn that blogging addiction does not only refer to bloggers but avid readers (or followers) of blogs. You can take the quiz too if you’re a fan!
Mingle2 – Online Dating
Which reminds me…. July is my blogiversary month. I am officially blogging for three years already (my first entry was sometime on the last week of July 2004). I realized that blogging is hard work because my total number of posts stands at a pitiful 472. It is hard being prolific. Post #500 should be a milestone, an occasion which calls for uncorking a wine bottle and it should come a few months from now 😛 Thanks for sharing it with me after all this time.
Following this project from Daily Blog Tips, here are the Top Three Reasons why am still blogging after Three years:
1. Blogging is an outlet for my writing. Okay, it may not be “the blog post that will change the world” kind of writing but I can write and I thank Him for giving me the gift to express myself through the written word. We are just lucky that blogging (and all the resultant technologies that go with it) has been invented in this generation. Do you imagine if blogging caught up with Shakespeare, Hemingway and other literary greats, how much more creative and productive they would have been!
2. Blogging is a great social interaction/networking tool and establishes one’s internet presence without paying a dime. I did not grow up with the internet and I am just amazed now that one can a piece of the great WWW pie through blogging. It’s surprising that one seemingly insignificant blog phrase or entry can land you a place in Google search. And that blogging can connect you with like-minded individuals and let you gain friends even more than you can with Facebook or Friendster :P. As my Globe Roamer TV experience shows, blogging can be a great portfolio builder and stepping stone to bigger things.
3. Blogging has made me more technically proficient. I can still remember those frustrating hours setting up by first blog with Blogger. Again, not having grown up with the Internet, I recall how fascinated I was and how determined to make it all work. Blogging has been simplified to a T and is basically now one-click publishing. Still, there are those interesting add-ons and plug-ins to learn…. I’ve yet have to learn how to upload a ready-made WP template, for chrissake. I have to find the time, I must find the time. I remain enthralled with the intricacies of web design, and PHP programming is something I’d like to study one day, not just the skill of rolling a sushi 😛
Having said all these, am going on a well-deserved blogging vacation. Could be a few days or a couple of weeks. I realized that I need to disengage myself for a while and take time to smell the flowers…. bake cookies… walk in the park… play with my children… ride a boat…. watch the sunset… jog…. shop…. anything but blog.
Hoping to come out more refreshed and energized. Be back when I get back!!! 😛

Hmmm, according to the quiz I am a whopping 21% addicted to blogging; although I am little concerned about how I will cope without the great Ajay blog whilst you are recharging your batteries.

I am 80% addicted maybe because I am just over a year old in the blogosphere. I wonder when I can ever take a break. My work is basically online.
Christine says
Take all the time you need, Ajay. We’ll leave a light on for you. 🙂
Brown Baron says
I got 75%. I thought it would be higher. I guess I’m addicted to my 3 kids more hehe.
ajay says
You will do well Lawrence… that am sure of 😛
80% is very understandable Noemi, considering you’re a full-time blogger nga….
Thanks Christine, that’s sweet of you..:)
We’re almost the same Brown Baron.. am surprised I rate lower than others I know. I just need to get me a laptop and I’ll probably go full-blast, hehe
Brown Baron says
Hmm if I had a laptop I’d probably get a higher score too hehe
Toni says
I’m 68% addicted. Bagsak sa pagka-addict. I’m kinda relieved actually. Hehehe. I was starting to get scared while answering the test. I think I spend too much time bloghopping kasi!
I am glad that you started blogging. If not for that, I would not have met you ka-Berk!
ajay says
I don’t see the need pa for a laptop, BB…
68%? That’s quite surprising Toni. I thought you’d rate more. But then again less time blogging means more quality time with your loved one, di ba? More than glad to have met you too! 🙂

I got 63%… which is pretty much what I thought I’d score. I guess I’m not extremely addicted… Either that or I’m living my OFFLINE life well these days, lol.

Hi there,
It was an interesting read.

“Do you imagine if blogging caught up with Shakespeare, Hemingway and other literary greats, how much more creative and productive they would have been!”
Actually, I think they would have been much less productive! Imagine all the time they would have lost commenting on other blogs, visiting random web-sites and writing about all the issues of our days instead of sitting down and devoting hours upon hours to thought and careful prose.
In other words, the isolation of the time added to the quality of their writing.
Hope you enjoyed/are enjoying your vacation!
ajay says
Valid point you have there Adam 😛
