If you ask me what am lovin’ about Manila right now, it’s the whole idea of being able to watch a full-screen movie outdoors while eating popcorn and plopped on pillows. All these amidst the beautiful surroundings of Bonifacio High Street Central Square in BGC.
You may now be curious: how is this possible? Our insider tip is you just sign up for membership to the video on demand service HOOQ at www.hooq.com and you will be invited to the outdoor cinema events we have been enjoying lately.
The latest we’ve watched as part of HOOQ Hangouts is Mano Po 7: Chinoy which boasts of an all-star cast led by Richard Yap, Jessy Mendiola, Enchong Dee, Jake Cuenca and Jean Garcia.
Richard and Jean were there on the night of our viewing. They’re shown here in the photo along with HOOQ officials and sponsor Globe Telecoms.
It was the week after Chinese New Year, hence the overall Chinese theme. Dragon dancers performed before the start of the screening.
Even the decor played true to form, with Chinese lanterns and the red fence. I wore my favorite Una Rosa lace pantsuit because I would still be hanging out with friends in BGC after. It was a Saturday night after all.
Anyway, the movie was quite good because it dealt with issues on how to resolve conflicts and trials within the family set-up. Like the book Broken Mirror, Mano Po 7 also gives us a peek on Chinese culture.
Mano Po 7 was shown in local theaters only last December 2016. Jane Cruz-Walker, Country Manager of HOOQ Philippines, said “we chose Mano Po 7 for this month’s HOOQ Hangouts to emphasize that HOOQ will be the first to have the newest local movies after their theatrical run.”
Good news indeed.
Among the much-anticipated movies that will soon be available to HOOQ subscribers are Camp Sawi,I Love You To Death, That Thing Called Tanga Na, My Rebound Girl, The Escort, Bakit Lahat ng Guwapo May Boyfriend?, and Working Beks.
This is aside from the showing of the 2016 MMFF top grossers and the latest GMA 7 TV series including Alyas Robinhood, Someone To Watch Over Me, Meant To Be and Ika-Anim na Utos.
The HOOQ library has over 10,000 movies and TV shows available for streaming or download. Globe At Home customers can get up to 6 months access to HOOQ with plans P1,299 and up, while Globe mobile customers can also get up to 6 months trial on selected prepaid and postpaid plans.
