Bongga! is a term used by Pinoys when something awes or impresses them. I was ready to use the word when I saw the facade and interiors of Casa Ibarra at the Mall of Asia Complex. The building with the modern Filipino design easily catches the eye from the road. Going inside, it stuns all the more with its tasteful and elegant interiors.

Casa Ibarra is the fifth and grandest events venue of Ibarra’s Party Venues and Catering which has carved a name for itself after almost two decades in the industry. Its other properties are Ibarra’s Garden in Ermita, Manila; Plaza Ibarra in Timog, Quezon City; Bella Ibarra in Quezon Avenue, QC and Villa Ibarra in Tagaytay City, a small hotel offering breathtaking views of Taal Lake and often contracted for destination weddings.
Casa Ibarra differs from the rest in the sense that it is located in a most bustling part of the metropolis right now, which also makes it very accessible. After a personal visit recently, we list down the 10 things which makes it tick as as a party and special events place:
1. The grand ballroom called Sala de Amor which can accommodate up to 350 persons. If you’re thinking of having a big wedding and other large-scale celebration, look no further than Casa Ibarra’s 600 square meter space on the second floor which is highlighted by six majestic Capiz chandeliers and lighted onyx pillars. Another centerpiece is the grand stairway with two facing staircases that light up as the celebrator/s come down to meet their guests.
2. Two other function rooms, called the Alegria and Hermosa rooms, which may not be as grand as the main ballroom but are stunning just the same. Located on the ground floor, the function rooms can fit 140 persons or can be combined to become a larger room.

3. A balcony with scenic views of the city that can fit approximately 80 guests for a small wedding set-up or for open-air cocktails. It is also an ideal venue for photo shoots.
4. Food is expertly prepared by Ibarra’s Catering which has 17 years of experience in the business. Clients can choose from a wide selection of Western, Mediterranean, Oriental, Spanish and Filipino cuisines. Specialties include braised beef shank, hickory pork spare ribs and the seafood paella. But really..everything in Ibarra’s menu is delicious. Hindi ka mapapahiya sa guest 🙂
5. Ibarra’s personnel dealing with banquet sales are also highly-trained in assisting clients from preparation all the way to the event proper. They are knowledgeable about all aspects like the church ceremony or emcees to tap.
6. Venue stylists are not necessary as well when booking with Casa Ibarra since the place is already dressed up. The overall effect is cozy, homey and intimate unlike hotel venues which tend to be a bit stiff.
7. Casa Ibarra has a warm and welcoming modern Filipino theme executed by the popular KM+ professional interior design. There is an abundance in the use of outstanding local materials like wood, raffia weave, t’nalak and elegant Cadiz.
8. Falling in love with Casa Ibarra starts at the lobby which has a giant, imposing piece Homage to Monet by French-Filipino artist Olivia d’Aboville. Sized at 11 meters x 3.5 meters, it consists of eight panels and used 365 meters of Philippine silk textile handwoven in Palawan and Aklan for over three months.
9. Casa Ibarra’s location near Mall of Asia is also very strategic and desirable. There are also dedicated areas to parking which will not pose a problem to guests.
10. In the end, it is all about price and affordability and Casa Ibarra does not fail in this category despite its world-class features. There are different packages to suit every client’s needs. It all depends on the inclusions they want, the number of guests and the food menu they select. The lowest package starts at P133,000 all-in!
